Scarborough - Constance Carleton Coyne, 81, died peacefully at her home on Monday, October 29, 2018. Her husband and her daughter were with her. Constance (Connie) Carleton was born on May 15, 1937, in Portland, the daughter of the late Oliver Joseph and Marie (Nelson) Carleton. She grew up on Elmwood Street and attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and Deering High School. She graduated with the Class of 1955. After high school Connie completed the training program with American Airlines to become a stewardess. She later worked at the Portland Chamber of Commerce followed by many years at the Portland Press Herald as an Assistant in areas of the advertising department. In her free time she enjoyed Ferry Beach, antique auctions, and was an avid reader and cookbook collector. She designed and decorated her home after careful study of historic colonial houses. She was known for beautiful Christmas celebrations, elegant dinner parties and a fondness of martinis. Constance was predeceased by her siblings, Ann Carleton and Robert Carleton. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dudley Coyne of Scarborough; her daughter, Mollie Coyne of Scarborough; several in-laws, nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. She always loved cats and will be sorely missed by Lilly and Silhouette. A Funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 10am at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
