A Tribute to Judith Gray Adolphson
Judith "Judi" Gray Adolphson, 76, peacefully departed this world on April 30, 2024, having suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease for the past several years. Judi was born in Medford, MA on October 19, 1947, daughter of the late Gerald and Nancy (Brown) Gray.
Judi grew up in Lexington, MA, where she attended public schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1965. She then went on to attend Green Mountain College in Poultney VT, graduating in 1967.
Growing up in the 1950’s she loved spending summers with her family at The Farm in East Andover NH, swimming in Highland Lake, climbing Mount Kearsarge, picking blueberries, and attending parades and fireworks celebrations on the 4th of July.
Judi was married in 1972 and lived in West Newbury, MA for over 40 years, where she and her husband lovingly restored an 1846 Greek Revival Home. She was a passionate and devoted lover of all dogs and reveled in the time she spent with her two yellow labs, Letty and Callie, and later in life, her “grand dog” Lulu.
Judi worked for a number of years in the Boston area, at Spaulding & Slye and Fidelity Investments. She thrived on being the “go-to” person in the office, and supporting her co-workers with a smile or a fix of the printer.
Over the years, she enjoyed researching family history and especially enjoyed old family photographs. Following the example of her mother, Judi was the best friend one could ask for, always remembering birthdays and anniversaries, and being there with a card or a phone call for all the happy and tough times that life brings. She also enjoyed being a Girl Scout troop leader, sewing, and volunteering.
Most of all, she loved raising and spending time with her daughter Lucy and for the past 3 years, she has lived at an assisted living facility in Portland ME, just minutes away from Lucy, Alban, and Lulu.
Judi is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Steven Adolphson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lucy Caroline Mitima and her husband Alban of Portland; devoted big brother, Herbert Gray and his wife Vicky of Vero Beach, FL; and Ruth I’Anson of Nashua, NH, a true friend and a pillar of support for many years.
Donations in Judi's memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, https://www.arlboston.org/
Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State St. Portland, ME. To view Judi's memorial page or leave a condolence, please visit www.ConroyTullyWalker.com.
Judi’s life will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, June 29, 2024 with a memorial service at the Follen Church, 755 Massachusetts Ave. Lexington, MA. A reception will follow from 12:30-4pm at Merchant's Row Restaurant at the Colonial Inn, 48 Monument Square, Concord, MA.
She will be joyfully remembered, and terribly missed. May she Rest in Peace.
Dear Lucy
So very sad to learn about your mother’s passing. Judi and I worked together at Fidelity properties in Boston for many years, and had a great friendship and coworker relationship. We had a good time and we had a lot of laughs. Our friendship extended beyond work, and even after we both left the company we stayed in, touch and maintained our friendship. Judi was a true friend and a kind person. I admired her interest in the preservation of your family home in Newbury and her different interests. I regret I will not be able to attend the services, but I appreciate you reaching out to me. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Lucy,
I just learned of your mother’s passing and am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed working with your mom, as it was a pleasure getting to know her and especially discover how important family and close friends were to her, and how she invested in those relationships over the years.
I will not forget her. My deepest condolences are with you and her brother.

Love and peace! ❤️
Our deepest sympathies to a beautiful family of Judi’s.
We will always remember the special memories that we shared living on Main Street as friends and neighbors. You could always count on Judi for a cup of sugar!
Hugs!
This condolence is way overdue, however, I learned of Judi’s passing months after she left us. My heart breaks for Lucy and her husband Alban. Judi was a wonderful mother, friend, and person. Her warm smile, infectious laughter and kindness will be forver missed.
May Judi be happy and at peace with her husband
Steve
I met Judi through her husband Steven, one of the nicest, intelligent and interesting men you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. Now that they are united again, I am certain they are both a peace and enjoying their endless love for one another and watching over Lucy
Judi is my fathers 1st cousin
We are so sorry for your loss, Lucy. She is at peace with your dad and grandpa
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Judi’s passing. She and my Mom, her Aunt Doris, had a long correspondence over some years. Judi saved all her letters, filed according to years, and sent them to us after Mom passed. We’ll always be grateful and will keep Judi in our prayers. May she Rest in Peace
I was the youngest cousin & always wanted to hang out with my four older cousins. Judi was always kind to me & welcomed me into the group. I will always remember her beautiful smile.
