YARMOUTH - Glen R. Hansen, 92, passed away in his home on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Born in Cumberland on December 19, 1924, Glen was the son of the late Arthur and Josephine (Schouboe) Hansen. He lived a full life focusing on his education, family, and helping others. Following graduation from Greely High School, Glen honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as First Lieutenant to the 36th Bombardment Squadron. After returning home to Maine he attended Bates College and Tufts Dental School, eventually opening his own practice where he spent his career focused on patient care. While attending Bates, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth May. Glen and Betty were married on June 18, 1949 in Auburn. Together they raised their family in Portland, Scarborough and eventually retiring in Falmouth. Glen's biggest passion was golf. He was a long time member of the Portland Country Club where he thoroughly enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends. Glen had a very active lifestyle and blessed his children with many fond memories of water skiing on Little Sebago Lake and downhill skiing on Pleasant Mountain. As a devoted father, he spent time hunting and fishing with his sons and taking his daughters to horse shows and practices. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. Glen is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth (May) Hansen, as well as his sister Ariel Palmer, his brother Arthur Hansen, and his grandson Mark Hansen. He is survived by three sons, Stephen Hansen and wife Sandy of Windham, Jim Hansen of Kingfield, and John Hansen of Eugene, OR; three daughters, Sally Hansen of Napa, CA, Margaret Churchill and husband Clayton of Ramona, CA, and Elizabeth "BJ" Weeks and husband Timothy of Falmouth; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM, on Saturday, November 25, at Holy Martyrs Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth. Internment with Military Honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth. A gathering will take place after the burial for family and friends at the parish hall of Holy Martyrs for refreshments. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth, Maine.
