Mary E. Ekowicki

Portland- Mary E. Ekowicki, 88, died on July 4, 2017 in Portland, after a brief illness. She was born in Portland on January 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Nalbach) Ekowicki. She attended local schools and graduated from Cathedral High School in the class of 1947. Mary worked for the John J. Nissen Baking Company, starting as an office girl and working her way to Vice President of Purchasing before her retirement in 1991. Mary was predeceased by her father, Peter Ekowicki, in 1955; her mother, Helen Ekowicki, in 2001; a brother, Richard Ekowicki in 1945; a sister, Joan Costello in 2016; two brothers in law, Martin Costello in 1999 and Anthony Caprio in 2006; dear friend and companion, Tom Noonan, in 1997. She is survived by a sister, Helena Caprio of Wallingford, CT; a brother, Robert Ekowicki and his wife Jean of Gorham. Mary took much pride in her four nieces and nephews, Susan and husband Nicholas DeCarlo of Fairfield, CT, Michael and wife Terry Caprio of Greer, SC, Ann Cushing of Gorham, and Peter and his wife Connie Ekowicki of North Yarmouth; ten great nieces and nephews who have given her much enjoyment over the years. In accordance with Mary's wishes, all funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland.
