Diane L Johnson
November 22, 1956 ~ July 21, 2016
Portland- Diane L. Johnson, 59, of Virginia Street died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her home. She was born in Montreal, Canada, and was the daughter of Carl H. Doughty and Annette (LaVoie) Martin. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in the class of 1974, and attended the University of New Hampshire. On November 26, 1977, Diane married James A. Johnson in Presque Isle, Me. Diane worked her entire life in the bookkeeping and accounting business. Diane was an extremely well respected and sought after professional in her field. In 1983 she and James moved to Portland where they began to raise their family. Diane loved feeding and watching the birds and deer in her back yard, she loved painting, and if you ever needed anything the Google queen could definitely find it, no matter what it was you were looking for. Her greatest love was the time spent surrounded by her family at the back yard fire pit or family dinners, any excuse to bring the family together. She also had a great love for her pets and constant companions BJ and Boo. Diane is survived by her father Carl Doughty of Presque Isle; mother Annette Martin of Canada; husband James A. Johnson of Portland; daughter Kendra Johnson of Portland; son Devin Johnson of Portland; one sister Ginger and her husband Jeffrey Anderson of Old Orchard Beach. At the familys request all services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME. I’m so deeply saddened at Diane’s passing. She was more than a workmate to me here at CDS, she was a friend. She was the most efficient and competent woman I ever had the pleasure to work with. We shared stories of out little spoiled dogs, Edmundston and Madawaska. She spoke her mind and made me laugh every day. I called her the work fairy as work would disappear from my desk and I would find that she had done it all. She spoke so highly of you all. I will miss her terribly. My deepest condolences and prayers to you all. Lori Rouleau

Jim, Devin, and KendraI am so very saddened to learn of Diane’s passing. I cannot remember a time when Diane did not greet me with a smile and a laugh. I was a stranger in a strange land when I moved to Maine and having Bill and Devin in the same first grade class was a true blessing because I soon met a very nice and welcoming lady who made me feel that everything was going to be okay. You welcomed my son into your home and were all so genuinely kind. The years we spent together in Pack 66, Den 5, Summer Camps, especially those Halloween parties are such good memories. Diane truly enjoyed entertaining the kids and I enjoyed watching her. I have a photo album from our years together in Scouts and there are more than a few pictures of the Johnson family. Jim – my deepest sympathy; such a loss. Devin and Kendra – please know that your mom was and will always remain a truly special lady. She will be missed but will never be forgotten. On behalf of the entire family, our deepest sympathy and may your beloved wife and mother, Diane, rest in peace. – Barb Querry, PortlandAfter the clouds, the sunshine, after the winter, the spring, after the shower, the rainbow, for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, after life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.

Jim/Kendra/Devon,We are so shocked and sorry to hear about Diane passing. Diane was the sister I never had growing up. I have such fond memories of spending brother and sister time with you during my late teens. Di was always there for advise and when I needed her. She was so kind and gracious. She made a huge impact on Heather and readily accepted her as a sister as well. The times we shared up at the lake and visiting with you all in Portland will be missed greatly. W will forever be thankful for the way you all cared for dad in his final years. Di you will be greatly missed by all who knew you and especially by us.
