Roger was such an inspiration to me! I am very proud to call him my friend although he told me the last time we talked that Chris found me first. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. He will continue to be in our heart forever. Sail on dear friend.

I met Roger at Holy Cross thru the marching band and other ventures. Roger always had something going. We became close friends and I was invited to his home many times over the years. His parents were always open and welcoming as was Roger. He encouraged me to try new things and ignited an entrepreneurial spirit that stayed with me my entire life. Thru this friendship I met Lyla and admired the love they had for each other. I will always be grateful for Roger’s friendship and will never forget the impact he had on my young life. As the class of 1967 ages, many classmates have gone to meet Jesus in person. Roger is now with him because of his faith and his kindness. God bless you my friend. Jim

I first me Roger when he was 12 years old. He and his parent showed up on my front porch in Grosse Pointe as my mother had invited Helen and Roger and Roger over for breakfast. Helen was considering accepting the music teach position at Pierce Junior High where my mother was the school librarian. After they all came in the house Roger and I were left standing there looking at each other (I remember he was wearing a bow tie…how polite of Helen). We became fast friends for a number of years, close friends…so close that I introduced him to my best friend Lyla. Life was young and special and I will always have fond memories of those times. His wit, intelligence and sense of humor were great. He will be missed but his memory will linger. He was my friend, and a better sailor than I was. His smile will be remembered. My special condolence on his passing to my God daughter Shannon and to all of the rest of the family. Ed Christian (and Judy)
