GERALD D. OSHEA, age 88, a resident of Falmouth, died on September 2, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Oakland on February 17, 1927 to Mary OShea Wade. He was raised in Oakland Fairfield by the Bates family whom he considered his parents. He attended schools in Scarborough, Fairfield, and the Coburn Classical Institute. After serving in the US Navy, he graduated from the University of Maine in 1952. In 1949 he married Frances Ayer at St. Dominics Church in Portland. Upon graduation from University of Maine Jerry completed the Executive Training Program at Jordan Marsh where he worked in various management positions for 37 years in Massachusetts and Maine. After retirement Jerry operated the pro shop at the Portland Ice Arena with his son Paul. Jerry and Frances were very involved with church and community. Jerry and his wife spent many years serving their Catholic faith including marriage and engaged encounter facilitators, Cursillo and as a lector and Eucharistic ministers in his parish. They were also involved for many years with the refugee resettlement program in Portland. Jerry is survived by his wife of 66 years Frances Ayer OShea of Falmouth, the pride and joy of his life, his six children, Shaun OShea (Anna-Marie) of Florence SC, Chris OShea (Kathie) of Beverly MA, Michael OShea (Deborah) of Manchester NH, Martin OShea (Kathy) of Norfolk MA, Paul OShea (Cheryl) of Falmouth ME, and Mary Lilly (Mike) of Gorham ME, in addition to many grand and great grand children. Visiting hours will be Monday, September 7, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland Maine. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 10:15am on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 followed by an 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland Maine. A celebration of life will follow at Ocean View in Falmouth Maine.   2. The world lost a good man this week. Buddy and I have many fond memories of times spent with Gerry and the family on the deck of the old boys camp on Frye Island. Gerry was always attentive to all. He is a man that many should try to emulate, his good deeds, his welcoming personality. His journey ended, his destination HEAVEN.
