Cape Elizabeth Frank W. Newman, 75, formerly of Cape Elizabeth died peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2015 following a long illness. His loving family was by his side. Frank was born in Medford, MA on November 18, 1939 the son of Frank D. and Tina Sturgeon Newman. He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta and then went on to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Building Construction. He spent his working life in the construction industry, building homes, and later hospitals and supermarkets. In his later years he enjoyed spending time in Boston and Downeast Maine when not at home in Cape Elizabeth. Frank had a passion for boating and the sea, and treasured any time spent cruising the coast of Maine. He will be most remembered for his love of family and boundless optimism. Frank was predeceased by his partner John Strathie. He will be dearly missed by three sons, Douglas Newman of Pittston, Steven Newman of Westbrook and Andrew Newman of Falmouth, and a sister Anna Demers of Harpswell. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME. A service will follow at 6:00pm with the Rev. Philip Shearman officiating. Burial will be private.   1. we are sorry that frank has passed away but hes in a better place now.he will be able to visit with past partners bill and john who we knew very well.seeing we have been here since 1944 we knew frank and bill well and than frank and john.we were all great friends going way back when people in the cove all knew each other and had good times and parties and cookouts which is to bad they dont happen with the new people.frank was a great guy.he let me use his truck to grade the road when i did it for years.he will be missed by all who knew him. skeet gaudreau
