Hollis Center- Paul J. Guimond Jr., 88, of Littlefalls Rd., died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 with his loving wife by his side. Paul was born in Portland, Maine on April 19, 1926 the son Paul J. Sr. and Hazel Craig Guimond. He attended local schools and in 1944 he enlisted and served in the United States Navy Seabees where he served during World War II alongside his brother Ray. Paul was very proud to have served his country. In 1992 Paul married Helen Ricci. After retirement from the service in 1986, Paul worked in the New Jersey Government Arsenal and the Navy Reserves running heavy equipment. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music, playing his guitar, organ or harmonica. He loved working in the garage doing carpentry and working with his hands. He loved taking Helen for rides to the Promenade. Paul was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club for several years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Paul was predeceased by a daughter and son in law Yvonne and Skip Quade; siblings Mildred, Ernest, Leslie, Ray, Louise and Roy Guimond. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Helen J. Guimond of Hollis Center; a daughter Sherry and her husband Bruce Caplan; a brother Caryl Guimond; a sister Evelyn Bridges; five grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sisters in law Mary Ricci, Dolores Sylvester, Evelyn Butts; brother in laws James and Charlene Ricci, Patrick Ricci and Richard Carson. Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME.
