Marjorie M. Sturgeon

Gorham-Marjorie M. Sturgeon, 88, of New Portland Road, died peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Gorham House with her loving family by her side. Marjorie was born in Biddeford, Maine on February 26, 1926 the daughter of Earle H. and Marie V. Partigliani Libby. She attended local schools and graduated from Scarborough High School in the class of 1944. Marjorie married Amos Sturgeon in Scarborough, Maine on June 1, 1946. Amos built their home on Ocean View Road where they remained until after Amos passing. Amos and Marjorie spent several winters at their home in Florida and made many friends there as well. Marjorie worked as full time mother, taking care of and raising her three children. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family. She also enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Her greatest love however was the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. As her granddaughter Jenny stated, Nanny was a beautiful woman who taught me how to shop and eat anything I wanted! She was predeceased by her husband Amos Sturgeon. She is survived by a daughter Rebecca and her husband Paul Desfosses of Gorham; two sons John and Ann Sturgeon of Scarborough and James and Lori Sturgeon of Buxton; six grandchildren Matthew and Lisa Desfosses of CT, Lorena Sturgeon of CA, Stacey Thibodeau of Dayton, ME, Jennifer and Jorge Romero of CA, Jesse Sturgeon of Portland, Savanah Sturgeon of Standish; 11 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren with another on the way. Her family wishes to thank all of the angels at Gorham House for taking such wonderful care of Marjorie. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
