Angelina B. (Sangillo) Higgins

WORCESTER, MA - Angelina B. (Sangillo) Higgins, 97, formerly of Portland, died Wednesday, May 07, 2014 at St. Christopher's House in Worcester, MA. Angelina was born in Portland, Maine on November 3, 1916 the daughter of Franseco and Caterina Galli Sangillo; one of twenty six children. She graduated from Portland High School and then from the Maine General Hospital School of Nursing with her LPN. She married Thomas A. Higgins in Portland, Maine. Angelina and Thomas moved to Walpole, MA where she worked at Norwood Hospital for many years in the operating room and the pediatric unit. She was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella, Sons of Italy, sang in the choir of St. Timothy's Church. She loved to square dance and go camping. Angelina was predeceased by her husband, a sister Antonette A. Houlihan. She is survived by a son Timothy Higgins of Delware; a daughter Concetta Ostrom of Indianna ; a brother Nicholas Sangillo, along with several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 8:00 to 9:30am at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 9:15 followed by an 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland. Burial will follow in South Gorham Cemetery, Gorham, ME.Online condolences may be expressed below.








Dad, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. Aunt Angie was a treasure. She always had a funny story and a twinkle in her eye as she told it. She told us lots of stories about growing up in a big family and having all the boys to take care of. She especially loved you. If there is anything that you need, just call. Love you.
