Glenna Grace Fischman

PORTLAND - Glenna Grace Fischman, 89, of Portland, formerly of Virginia, died Tuesday August 14, 2013 at Gosnell Hospice House. She was born on January 2, 1924 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Glenna attended local schools and graduated from High School in West Virginia. Following high school she attended and graduated from secretarial school in West Virginia. For several years she worked for the State Department in Washington D.C. as a secretary where she met her future husband Kurt Fischman. On January 2, 1949 she and Kurt married and began to raise a family. For the next several decades the family traveled extensively following Lt. Col. Fischman's military career. Upon retirement Glenna and her husband lived in Scottsdale, Ax for 10 years, before returning east to live in Williamsburg, VA. During their retirement they continued to travel and visit new and exciting places. On June 29, 2009, Glenna was predeceased by her husband Lt. Col. Fischman. Survivors include a daughter Gale S. Perry of Falmouth; a son, Robert A. Fischman of Houston Texas; a grandson Kurt F. Perry of Falmouth. Glenna will be buried next to her beloved husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
