PEAKS ISLAND - Jacqueline G. Lane, 86, of Peaks Island, died peacefully at her home on August 10, 2013. She was born in Henniker, NH a daughter of George E. and Clara (Brown) Lane, Jr. Jacqueline was a 1944 graduate of Concord High School. As a young woman she worked as a model and secretary in Miami, Boston and New York City. She later held secretarial positions at the State Board of Education in Concord, NH and at the Supreme Court Office of New Hampshire. Jacqueline was executive secretary for the Public Relations Department of the Association of American Railroads in Washington, D.C. In 1956 Jacqueline moved to Peaks Island. For the next twenty years she worked for Swift and Company retiring after 20 years. She continued to work as a self-employed contractor on the Island until 1992. Jacqueline loved animals, gardening and books. She wrote hundreds of poems and had some of them published. She was predeceased by her brother Richard A. Lane on December 4, 2012. Jacqueline is survived by her beloved cat "JJ" who was her longtime companion and her many Peak's Island friends.Friends are invited to attend visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 15 at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. A service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, NH. Those desiring may make donations to: Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, P.O.   1. I didn’t find out that Jacqueline left us until I had written about Dick. I would have sent her my condolences. Now I can only send them to J.J. and all who knew her. I will certainly contribute to the animals in the name of both siblings. May they both be surrounded by many animals, foreven. Linda chene
