Wallace Wally Robert Brown, 58, of Portland died unexpectedly at his home on April 11,2012. He was born November 15, 1953 in Woburn, Massachusetts. He was the son of Robert Wallace and Lee Grover Brown. He was a graduate of Lincoln Sudbury High School. At the time of his death he was employed with CH2M Hill in Prudhoe Bay, AK and attending school at USM to complete his Geography degree. This, after a twenty year career as a commercial fisherman here in Portland. Last October 17th, he was remarried to Sue Turner-Villetta out at the Falmouth Community Park where they spent a great deal of time together with their dogs. Wallace's interests and accomplishments were many and spanned many years. He hiked the Pacific Crest Trail at 19, and spent a season as a ski bum in Alta, UT. He was an accomplished Banjo picker, a pilot and had recently earned his 100 ton captains license. He loved world music and practicing yoga with his wife. He loved the time he spent out on Chebeague Island and above all, loved his family. Wallace is survived by his wife, Sue of Portland; his daughters, Anna Brown and Maggie Brown both of Portland; step-daughter, Chelsea Villetta and three step-sons, Nicholas, Chandler and Griffin Villetta, all of Portland; a mother-in-law, Carol Turner of Newport; two sisters, Wynne Brown and her husband Peter Wimberger of Tacoma,WA, Elizabeth Brown of Bellingham, WA and a brother, William Brown and his wife Kristen of Londonderry, NH. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. A 10:00 a.m. Memorial service will be held Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wally's memory may be made to: The Maine Audubon Society, 20 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, Maine 04105.Online condolences may be expressed below.

  8. Wally was in my online World Geography class and while I never met him personally, I enjoyed corresponding with him; he would drop us lines about the weather in Alaska. I was very sad when the Dean at UMPI called to tell me of his passing and so I thougt I would send you my condolences.

  9. I am just learning of Wally’s death, 4:30 on Wednesday evening, too late for the services. I am just heart broken by this news. My condolences to his family..he was very special to me. I bumped into him a year or so ago and he was his happy self. This is how I will remember him. Peace to you Wally.

  10. As with all the members of our family, your passing does not seem real. I wish I would wake up. I do have a lot of great memories of the fun we have had. Family reunions were the best, our parents always had to kept an eye on you, Debbie, Donna and I. We sure were mischief together. It makes me smile to think of those times. What a sweet man and always so lovely to see the two of you together after your early Sunday yoga claas and before I began my practice.
