Paul Rideout

TAMPA, FLA. - Paul Rideout, 39, of Tampa, Fla., passed away on June 7, 2011, at Tampa General Hospital with his family by his side. Paul was born on Nov. 8, 1971, in Portland, the son of Gerald and Sheila (Meehan) Rideout. Paul attended St. Joseph Parish School and Portland High School. It was in his school years that his passion for radio broadcasting developed. Paul was first drawn to the studios of WMPG at the University of Southern Maine and WGME located walking distance from his childhood home. Paul took great pride in being part of a team that launched a new station in Bar Harbor. His radio passion lead him to many stations in Maine, Syracuse, N.Y., and eventually to Tampa. One had to be on guard in those days as Paul loved to call people saying 'This is Paul Rideout live on air with...' and you were expected to play along with his interview. As time went by Paul used the internet to communicate with friends and family, with the last few years devoted to working on a family tree. As a child he enjoyed numerous camping and fishing adventures with his family and friends. In his life Paul was saddened by the passing of his grandfathers, Arnold C. Rideout and William J. Meehan; and his uncle, Dennis Meehan. He is survived by his parents; his sisters, Lisa Rideout of Jacksonville, Fla., and Julie Rideout of Portland; his grandmothers, Alice Rideout and Kathleen Meehan; and several aunts, uncles; cousins; and his many friends from Maine to Florida. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from 6-8 p.m., at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. On Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 10 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 673 Stevens Ave. Portland.
