Waterboro- Judith M. Bishop Burns, 70, of New Dam Road died peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, following a long illness, her loving family was by her side.
Judith was born in Portland, Maine on October 5, 1947, the daughter of the late Edwin J. and Frances C. (Hodgkins) Bishop. She attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1965.
She was a longtime communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Following high school, Judith went right to work as a Nurse's Aid, working at Seaside Nursing Center and St. Joseph's Manor. As her children got older she returned to school, at then SMVTI, earning her Associates Degree as a Medical Assistant, it was then that she went to work for Dr. Heward, Optician. She later worked at Len's Crafters in the Maine Mall and retired in 2011 from the Buxton Eye Center.
On August 21, 1998, she married Ronald Burns in the park at Mill Creek. Together they made their home in Waterboro.
In her spare time, Judith, enjoyed doing crafts at home, spending time working in her flower gardens, going antiquing, day trips, vacations to Florida, listening to music and dancing, and attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her five children, who described her as real people person, loving, genuine, and sensitive. She had a very special love for her grandchildren whom she adored.
She is survived by her husband of almost 20 years, Ronald Burns of Waterboro; two daughters, Lisa and her husband Michael Coyne of Portland, and Kelley and her husband Chris Coyne of Portland; three sons, John Manning of Falmouth, Michael Manning of Portland, and Joey Manning of Falmouth; a sister, Carol Poland of Buxton; ten grandchildren, Kristin Foley, Keri Foley, Kelsey Coyne, Hannah Coyne, Michael Coyne, Kali Coyne, Mariah Coyne, Madison Manning, Taylor Manning, and Kaden Manning; three great grandchildren, Isabella, Julianna, and Brayden; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and celebration of Judith's life will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Monday, January, 29, 2018, at 9:15am followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland, Maine. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
