With a broken heart, I share the loss of Nina Sachs last night. Nina was my love for nearly 38 years. Wife, mother to David Sachs, Jonathan Sachs, and Molly BC Sachs. Mom to Sophie and Eli, who always tried to keep her spirits up. "Recovering lawyer", children's librarian, volunteer, most recently at Preble Street Soup Kitchen, where she loved to cook until she could no longer. We loved being there together, doing all we could to escape our own up front and close exposure to mental illness and homelessness. I will continue that fight. Her brief gig as volunteer librarian at the Reiche School was a huge part of the recent past, giving her a sense of giving, ability and accomplishment.
Nina was no stranger to illness, and fooled many of us into believing she was just fine. Her pain and anguish are gone now. We had something unique and indescribable. A true Renaissance woman. We had some incredible and unanticipated introspective moments yesterday afternoon. We chatted honestly, joked a little. Reminisced. It was a blast. She the asked how long would her ride take on the imaginary bullet train to the other side of the bridge.
If you are so inclined, please consider making a donation in her name to Maine Medical Center Department of Critical Care Medicine (c/o David Seder, M.D.) 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, Maine 04102
The folks on SCU 2 were comforting, smart, doing no harm. May all of them, too many to know names, find the spirit and compassion to stay the course.
I miss Nina so much. With the help of my countless friends, I will fulfill my promise to Nina to charge on.
Thank you all for being in her life
Curt

Blessings to you and your family during this very difficult time..I was very happy just getting to know Nina through her involvement as a volunteer at the Reiche Book Nook. Very intelligent and a bundle of energy personality to boot. She is missed Blessings, Penny

Corinne was a great friend in my life. I just found out she died. It is awful knowing such a great person is no longer with us. I love her. She was real. All the time fearless. I respected her genius and generous nature. We shared so much truth. Today is a hard loss for me. Rest in peace Nina. Love. Missy Esty

“I remember you
You’re the one who made my dreams come true
A few kisses ago
I remember you
You’re the one who said “I love you, too”
Yes, I do, didn’t you know?
I remember, too, a distant bell and stars that fell
Like the rain out of the blue
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of it all
Then I will tell them I remember you
Then I will tell them I remember, tell them I remember
Tell them I remember you”…
