Biddeford- Karen M. Leighton, 51, of South Street, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with her loving family by her side.
Karen was born in Portland, Maine the daughter of Harry and Dorothy L. (Morton) D'Andrea.
Karen worked various jobs over her career including a period of time at D'Andrea's Sandwich Shop, until ill health forced her to stop working. In her spare time she loved to shop, spend time in the outdoors, talking on the phone, and most recently learning how to send text messages. Her greatest enjoyment came from the time she spent surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Family and friends will always remember Karen as an out going and lovable person who always put others ahead of her self.
Karen was predeceased by a sister Elaine Reny and a brother Arthur Morton. She is survived by her husband John E. Leighton of Biddeford; a daughter, Alyssa M. D'Andrea of Biddeford; three sons, Michael D'Andrea of Gray, Sean D'Andrea of Westbrook, and Justin D'Andrea of Old Orchard Beach; two sisters, Patricia Smith of Westbrook, and Pamela D'Andrea of Augusta; two brothers, Robert and his wife Cheryl D'Andrea of Old Orchard Beach, and Michael D'Andrea of Falmouth; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Karen's Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, Maine.

In my younger difficult years, Karen loved me unconditionally. No matter the poor decision making i made, her door was always open. She truly loved her family and Karen always put herself after her family. I love you and i will miss you. I will hold my memories of us close and one day we will be together again. Love you auntie.
