PORTLAND - On July 6th, 2018, Concetta Lavigne, also known as Connie or Nunny took her final breath, surrounded by her family. She was 96. Our family is heartbroken, but we take comfort in her long and healthy life and her peaceful passing. Connie was an amazing, selfless, beautiful angel on earth who loved caring for others. She cherished children and was happiest when watching over them. Family and friends were her joy. She adored and lived for them until the very end. She was a strong willed woman. She was tiny but fierce and didn't take flack from anyone. She had worrying down to a science. She was always nervous that something bad happened if you were late or didn't call. She baked amazing Italian cookies and received the most pleasure when giving them to others. She was extremely religious and prayed for others, not herself. She felt deeply for those who were suffering and tried to help in any way she could. She met with a group of dear friends weekly and kept herself busy crocheting afghans for the sick, babies, widows, and anyone else who happened to admire her handiwork. Connie is survived by her two sons, Anthony and Steven DePaolo, three grandchildren, Concetta DePaolo, Nicholas DePaolo and Steven DePaolo II, five great grandchildren, her children's father, Anthony DePaolo Sr, and several loving relatives and close friends. Per Connie's request, a private service was held followed by a celebration of her life. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home in Portland. Memorial donations in memory of Connie may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
