Portland - Reynold Murray Drews, 76, died on June 23, 2023, in Portland, Maine at Maine Medical Center, from pneumonia resulting from the coronavirus.\n\nRen was a lifetime member of the Larchmont Yacht Club and an accomplished sailor. He was captain or crew member on many ocean sailboat races, from the Caribbean to the seas off of the coast of Maine. He was most at home on the water, with a following wind and the company of his great friends E.C. Hoffman, and Paul and Charlie Hoffmann.\n\nRen was born in Larchmont, New York, to Reynold and Mary (Murray) Drews on September 13, 1946. He grew up in Larchmont and graduated from Lafayette College in 1969. He later received a master’s degree from the Muskie School at the University of Southern Maine. After college and several years in New York City in the advertising business, Ren married and moved to Kennebunkport, Maine.\n\nRen was in the real estate business for many years, starting as a broker and becoming president of Long Pond Development Company in Ogunquit, M.E. His specialty became affordable and luxury multi-unit developments throughout the Northeast.\n\nRen will always be remembered for his gracious and generous ways, his wonderful sense of humor, and his gentle, loving heart. He added great goodness to our lives, and we will miss him.\n\nRen is survived by his sister, Sarah Walton; his former wife, Elisa Knapp Ceshker; and many dear friends, especially Rick Moore and Donna Thompson.\n\nA memorial to Ren’s life will be held at Donna Thompson’s home in Cape Porpoise, Maine on July 24th at 3:30 p.m.\n\nMay the seas rise up to meet you and may the winds be at your back.
