SOUTH PORTLAND - Monique C. Perron, 72, of South Portland, widow of Ronald H. Perron, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on September 28, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by her family after a long illness. Monique was born in Lewiston on October 10, 1939, a daughter of Leo and Blanche (Simard) Breton. She attended Lewiston parochial schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1958. After graduating from St. Mary's General Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston in September 1961 and becoming a registered nurse, Monique began her career at St. Mary's where she worked until 1964. She subsequently moved to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she worked as an operating room nurse until her retirement. Monique married Ronald Perron on October 26, 1963 in Lewiston. The couple relocated to Portland and later to South Portland, raising three sons and a daughter. Monique was a communicant of South Portland's St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister and taught C.C.D. She enjoyed crafts, including knitting and ceramics, and treasured time spent with family and doting on her grandchildren. She also had a very strong faith, and a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and praying the rosary. Monique is predeceased by her husband of 45 years who died in 2009; her parents; and a brother, Roland Breton. She is survived by three sons, Raymond Perron and his spouse Edward Ames of Washington, D.C., Donald Perron and his wife Anne of Portland, and Richard Perron and his wife Leanne of Scarborough; one daughter, Debra (Perron) Gillis and her husband Michael of North Waterboro; ten grandchildren, Carmen and Joseph Ames-Perron, Renee and Jamie Gallant, Angela, Anthony, Tyler, Joshua and Gabrielle Perron, and Emma Gillis; one sister, Pauline (Breton) Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 3 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 611 Main St, South Portland. Interment will be held on Thursday, October 4 at 2 p.m. in St. Peter's Cemetery, Lewiston. Arrangements by Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
