SOUTH PORTLAND - John Edward Glynn, 85, of South Portland died February 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 14, 1926 in Portland, a son of William E. and Mary Agnes O'Toole Glynn. He was educated locally. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. John married Mary Margaret Cribby in 1947 and began raising his family. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. He worked as Superintendent for the Bureau of Waste; B.O.T at the Maine State Pier for 22 years, retiring in 1986. He also worked for Lucarelli Construction and Summit Terrace Apartments for many years. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, John E. Glynn in 1960; his wife Mary in February, 1995; and his siblings, William, Edward, and Arlean Martin. Surviving are: two sons, Kevin J. Glynn and Joseph E. Glynn of South Portland; a sister, Kathleen McLaughlin of Portland; a brother, Timothy of Texas; and two granddaughters, Dawn and Shannon. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, February 20th at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, at the Chapel, followed by a 12 Noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, South Portland.
