Cape Elizabeth-Janice B. Harling, 76, of Sawyer Road, died Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on November 9, 1938, a daughter of George and Eda (Stafford) Lashua. She married Richard Harling Sr. on November 12, 1955, in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. Janice worked in the physical therapy field at National Medical Care, Maine Medical Center, Portland Physical Therapy, and Saco Boy Physical Therapy. Janice was kind and caring to everyone she met. She treasured time spent with family and friends, especially the family tradition of baking Christmas cookies with her sister Bertha and the annual family Memorial Day gathering. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, attending the theater, playing casino games on her tablet, and traveling, including trips to the Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, and Las Vegas. She is predeceased by her husband, a granddaughter, Alicia Robinson; three sisters, Barbara Poitras, Thelma Finn, and Rita Bacon; and five brothers, William Brennan, Paul Brennan, Leonard Brennan, Robert Brennan, and George Brennan. She is survived by a son, Richard Dan Harling Jr. and companion Carrie Boudreau of Raymond; two daughters, Donna Robinson of Cape Elizabeth, and Tammy Butler and husband Alburn of Portland; a sister, Bertha Landry of Ashburnham, Massachusetts; and two grandchildren, Alice Boudreau and Matthew Morse-Butler. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Small and her staff and the nursing staff at Gibson Pavilion of Maine Medical Center for the exceptional care provided to Janice.
