SOUTH PORTLAND - Edward J. McDonough, 70, passed away on Oct. 27, 2012 after a three year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis; with his loving family by his side and listening to Irish music, which he loved. He was born in Portland on Aug. 27, 1942, a son of Thomas J. and Mary (Feeney) McDonough, Sr. Ed had lived in Florida for many years, returning to Maine in 1990. He was self-employed in the automotive industry. Ed proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas J. and Patrick; sister Philomena (Meeney) McDonough Manderville. Survivors include by his soul mate and loving wife Linda (Connell) McDonough of South Portland; three daughters, Leslie Ace and husband Brian of Bushkill, PA, Barbara Beckwith and husband Nester of Harrison, Brandy Hynes of FL; son John McDonough of Naples; four brothers, Michael of Brandon, FL, Coleman and wife Faye of Seffner, FL, William and wife Theresa of Portland, John and wife Betty of Westbrook; sister, Mary Ann Baker of Sanford, Florida; three grandchildren, Kaci and Charlie McDonough, Rainey Beckwith; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew John McDonough, Jr. and wife Maggie of Westbrook; and special friends, Simmie Butts and Gary Wilcox. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Chase and Dr. Peter Bates, Beacon Hospice and staff; Bill Griffin and nurses, Cathy Cogswell, Cindy Morris, Sonya Mitchell, and Lisa Golden, for all the kind and compassionate care they gave to Ed. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. Burial with military rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
