SOUTH PORTLAND - Carole Ann Eaton, 77, of South Portland, died Wednesday August 28, 2013 at Mercy Hospital with her family by her side. Carole was born on August 11, 1936, in North Monmouth, a daughter of Stanley and Regina Mary Arsenault Barbour. She attended school in North Monmouth and was a 1954 graduate of Monmouth Academy. Carol also attended Mercy School of Nursing. In January 1957 she married Maurice A. Eaton at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winthrop. Carole worked for a few years with Canal Bank. She later worked for over 15 years as a nurse at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1988. During her retirement she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association of South Portland. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. Carole assisted her mother as a Meals - On-Wheels Volunteer delivery service person. Carole enjoyed travel and made several trips with Maury and friends to Ireland and Florida. She also enjoyed trips that involved her granddaughter's dancing programs. Carole studied genealogy and enjoyed working with her computer. Her brother Gregory Barbour also died on Wednesday August 28, 2013 in Augusta. She is also predeceased by a baby daughter, Kathleen M. Eaton. She is survived by her husband, Maurice A. Eaton of South Portland; a daughter Maureen D. Pettengill of South Portland; three sons, Michael D. Eaton of Falmouth, James M. Eaton of South Portland, Kevin P. Eaton of So. Portland; a sister Jacqueline LaPointe of Augusta; a brother James Barbour of Newfield; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held 2 to 4 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the south Portland Chapel followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, corner of Broadway and Cottage Roads, South Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
